Community garden is farming, just at a smaller scale! The City appreciates our community gardeners helping make the city a healthier and more vibrant place.

We have tons of community gardens in Bridgeport, some operated by the Green Village Initiative and others, operated by community members, known as independent gardens. There are community gardens in every neighborhood of the city.

Please reach out directly to the Green Village Initiative if you are interested in joining one of their gardens.

The Sustainability Office reminds gardeners to please keep gardens and fences lines clean, free of debris, and well maintained. It is the responsibility of each community garden to ensure the front of their garden looks good and is free of weeds and overgrowth.

If you have any questions about this program please contact the City of Bridgeport Sustainability Office.
