As a division of the Office of Planning & Economic Development (OPED), the Planning Department’s role is to conduct short- and long-term planning, provide support for OPED to grow the city’s tax base, represent the City in regional and statewide forums, and coordinate closely with other City departments to conceptualize and design infrastructure and development projects, both publicly and privately funded.
Improving quality of life, livability, neighborhood connectivity, and ease in accessing government services are at the forefront of every initiative the Planning Department undertakes.
The Planning Department successfully completed the City’s Master Plan of Conservation and Development, Plan Bridgeport, in 2018 and is actively implementing it. To track progress, refer to the Plan Bridgeport web page.
