Toter Request

One (1) Recycling & Sanitation toter is provided per household. Upon request, a resident may receive a second Recycling toter at no cost.

New Homeowner

To receive a Recycling and/or Sanitation toter the owner must provide either:

A copy of the closing statement/deed (if it is a new homeowner that was missing toters at time of purchase) within 12 month stating (closing date, name, address & phone number)

Lost or Stolen Toter

Stolen toter must be reported to the Police Dept. non-emergency number 203-576-7671. 

    • Provide the dispatcher with your name, address, and a brief description of what occurred.
    • You will be given a file number and told to pick-up the report at Police Headquarters, Records/Property Division located at 300 Congress Street (203-581-5270). 

A copy of the full police report documenting the stolen toter MUST be submitted with your request, a file number is NOT sufficient.

Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19), our offices are open, but closed to the public until further notice.

Once this information is received, the toter will be delivered to you during regular-business from Monday to Friday.

Allow up to 2 weeks for delivery. 

(Please NOTE that residents will only be issued one replacement for a stolen toter.  This policy is subject to change.) 

You can also request that a toter be repaired by using the City’s free mobile reporting app SeeClickFix (available through the iTunes store or Google Play for Android).
