Bridgeport, CT Bridgeport Public Schools, the City of Bridgeport, and the Bridgeport Police Department are aware of the additional intimidating messages. Law enforcement is currently investigating and will determine if we are dealing with credible threats. All City entities are encouraging families and staff to be aware of viral posts as they may not include the most credible and up-to-date information. To receive the most accurate and updated information, parents, students, and staff should refer to messaging distributed through ParentSquare. Residents who do not have access to ParentSquare may sign up as a guest by visiting www.bridgeportedu.net/alertoptin. Families and staff may also receive accurate and updated information by visiting the Facebook accounts of the Bridgeport Public Schools, the City of Bridgeport, and the Bridgeport Police Department. Any further intimidating messages or social media posts should be reported by calling 911.

Superintendent Dr. Carmela Levy-David stated, “We understand the concern this may cause and want to assure you that we are taking this matter very seriously. The safety and well-being of our community is our top priority. We are all working together and will provide additional information as soon as it becomes available.”

Mayor Ganim stated, “As we continue to monitor this situation, it’s imperative that all residents, families, and staff pay close attention to the information posted online. In this regard then, I’m encouraging everyone to rely on information from credible sources such as the City of Bridgeport, Bridgeport Public Schools, and the Bridgeport Police Department. Our priority is to keep our children safe, and it’ll take the community’s effort to ensure we remain vigilant while protecting them.”

Chief Roderick Porter stated, “The Bridgeport Police Department would like to ensure our community that the safety of our students and staff is a priority. We will continue to have layered protection in and around our schools.”
