Bridgeport, CT – Today, Mayor Ganim attended a virtual conference that was hosted by the United States Conference of Mayors titled “Raise the Bar: Lead the World – A Conversation with U.S. Education Secretary Miguel Cardona.” The conversation was to detail Secretary Cardona's “Raise the Bar: Lead the World” initiative as a call to action to transform P-12 education and unite around what’s most suitable to keep the U.S. as a leading nation. Secretary Cardona shared tools, resources, and assistance to local districts to help advance specific strategies aimed at promoting academic excellence and wellness for all learners. This concept helps to ensure every student has a pathway to college and careers; better preparing our nation for global competitiveness. Including Mayor Ganim, mayors from four other large cities across the nation attended the conference and participated in a Q&A forum with Secretary Cardona.

“Today’s conversation reiterated just how significant it is to unite over the importance of education and the way our students thrive within our schools,” Mayor Ganim stated. “I believe that education is a very integral part of the fabric of our community, and for that, I extend my gratitude to Secretary Cardona for calling on mayors, including myself, to participate in a conversation that not only benefits our local communities but our entire country. It’s always a pleasure to meet with fellow leaders of municipalities, especially when the end-goal is to strengthen our local communities.”
