RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES EFFECTED BY STORM IDA MAY SEEK REIMBURSEMENTS FOR DAMAGES
Bridgeport, CT – Mayor Ganim joined Emergency Management Director Appleby to announce that a FEMA disaster recovery center is currently open at the Bridgeport Public Library Main Branch. The center will provide financial assistance to residents and businesses with documented loss or damage of property due to the impact of Storm Ida.
Mayor Ganim stated, “We appreciate the response from our residents and businesses to report their damages caused by Storm Ida. In conjunction with FEMA, the Bridgeport Emergency Management staff will continue to tirelessly work towards addressing the needs of our community to recover from the flooding and impact of Storm Ida.”
“Residents should feel confident that FEMA support is accessible and here to assist with uninsured losses due to Storm Ida. The focus right now is to reach those that were hardest hit to provide them with details on how to request reimbursement,” stated Director Appleby.
Cost estimates, photos, and videos of damage or loss, insurance information and/or existing claims as well as the address and zip code will be requested by FEMA staff to assess each individual reimbursement request. Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster.
The FEMA disaster recovery center is located at the Bridgeport Public Library Main Branch; 925 Broad Street on Monday and Tuesday from 10am to 6pm; Wednesday and Thursday from 12pm to 8pm; Friday and Saturday from 10am to 5pm. City officials encourage residents and business owners that experienced uninsured property loss to visit the center, apply through the online portal, or call 1-800-621-FEMA(3362) to request financial assistance.
