Bridgeport, CT – City of Bridgeport officials announce that applications from civic-minded Bridgeport residents are currently being accepted to fill various vacancies on the numerous Boards and Commissions.   

Some of the Boards or Commissions vacancies that the City is seeking to fill are the Board of Assessment Appeals, Commission for People with Disabilities, Ethics Commission, Fair Rent Commission and the Water Pollution Control Authority. 

Individuals that are interested in achieving their civic duty by volunteering their skill and experience on a City Board or Commission must:

  • Be a resident of Bridgeport
  • Submit to a criminal background check
  • Not currently hold or have held a public office or a role in an organization with the primary purpose of influencing legislation
  • Submit to City’s commission on ethics disclosure of their property and business and financial interests in the City 

“We are looking forward to strong applicants that, if appointed, will help to ensure that City government continues to reflect the concerns and interests of Bridgeport residents in a way that is effective, efficient, and makes positive impact throughout our community,” Mayor Ganim stated. 

The application process can be found here. Successful qualified applicants must be nominated by Mayor Ganim and confirmed by the City Council to be appointed to a Board or Commission. Appointed members will attend monthly meetings to conduct city business with occasional, additional “Special Meetings,” as necessary.
