Bridgeport, CT – Earlier today, the merged high school location for Bassick High School and Bridgeport Military Academy received a topping off ceremony which included a beam–signing ceremony as well as placement of the beam. This ceremony comes after the conclusion of the foundation of the building being completed and ready to move into the next phase of construction. The high school is set to be completed and ready for use by August 2025 and will include 48 teaching classrooms and labs. The 204,000 square foot school will be able to house 1,250 students from the West and South End communities and will have a designated sports field.

Mayor Ganim stated, “I want to thank all the hardworking men and women for helping to make the construction of this building happen thus far. We greatly anticipate the opening of the school in August 2025, and we can’t wait to finally cut the ribbon. I’m also thankful to the state of Connecticut for providing the funding needed to get this school built and provide a state-of-the-art space for our high school students of the West and South End.”
