Bridgeport, CT – Today, Mayor Ganim and the Bridgeport Water Pollution Control Authority (WPCA) announced that there will be a rate decrease for Bridgeport households during the 2024-2025 fiscal year. This rate decrease is the first WPCA decrease to happen in the City of Bridgeport where residents will see a drop in their water rates on their quarterly bill. This year’s rates have taken an approximate drop of 3.5% where the average single-family home can save about $35 per year. The rate reduction is a result of a third-party operator, Inframark, whose negotiated contract was signed in January 2024, and allowed WPCA to lower annual rates for ratepayers in Bridgeport.

Mayor Ganim stated, “I want to thank WPCA for their incredible hard work with reducing their rates for the first time in the City of Bridgeport. This rate reduction helps to support our initiative to put money back into our residents’ pockets, as we’ve done so far by holding the line on taxes. We’ll continue to find ways to lower rates for our residents and provide relief for Bridgeport households in any way we can.”
