City of Bridgeport Seeking Proposals for Mixed-Use Developments Downtown
Bridgeport, CT – The City of Bridgeport’s Office of Planning and Economic Development Department has posted two Requests for Proposals (RFP’s) for the development of two City-owned sites in the Downtown area.
Mayor Ganim stated, “This is another positive step towards strengthening the Downtown, which is really beginning to emerge as diverse, thriving neighborhood. Its amenities have substantially grown in the areas of education, arts and entertainment; and this new development will add to that by creating new opportunities for people to live, work, and play right here in the center city. ”
The City seeks proposals from developers interested in constructing multi-story residential complexes, with street level retail or restaurants or community facilities. The two city-owned parcels being offered represent over 26,000 square-feet of developable land.
Golden Hill Court:
157 – 171 Golden Hill Street 9,147 square-feet (.21 acres)
Responses Due: 2pm Thursday, April 7, 2022
Main & Middle:
1200, 1214, 1218 Main Street & 207 Middle Street 17,424 square-feet (.4 acres)
Responses Due: 2pm Thursday, April 14, 2022
Thomas Gill, Director of the City's Office of Planning and Economic Development, stated, “These properties are just a block away from our transit center. That makes them highly attractive. So we anticipate a strong response from the development community and we’re looking forward to continuing the momentum of this downtown renaissance. Right now, residential occupancy is effectively at 100% and the retail and restaurant offerings have grown into an eclectic blend that really gives the city a distinct identity.”
After the RFP closes, the City will examine and evaluate all responsive proposals. The City expects to conclude its selection process and to enter into development agreements by this summer.
