City of Bridgeport Prepares for Expected Snow with Icing Conditions, Announces Modified Schedule for Trash, Recycling, Brown Bag Collection, and Transfer Station
Bridgeport, CT– Emergency Operations Center weather briefing reports that the first half of Tuesday, January 26, will remain dry with thickening clouds and the arrival of light snow during the afternoon and evening from west to east in the City of Bridgeport. Some light accumulations are expected with this system through early Wednesday.
FORECAST
Precipitation: Light snow will begin between 2 PM and 4 PM this afternoon from southwest to northeast. The snow will be dry and powdery and fall steadily through tonight. Sleet and rain will mix in especially at the coast between 6 AM and 10 AM Wednesday. Rain and snow showers Wednesday afternoon will come to an end as snow showers between 5 PM and 8 PM Wednesday evening.

• Temperatures: Highs 28-33 Today. Lows 27-32 tonight.
• Highs 35-40 Tomorrow.
• Accumulations: 1 ½ - 3 ½ inches.
BE CAREFUL
There is the potential for freezing rain with this system. City officials advise residents to stay home and off the roads if possible. If you must travel, be advised of icing and slippery road conditions.
In response, Department of Public Facilities announces the following modified schedule of City services:
Sanitation and Recycling pick-up routes
Sanitation and recycling pick-up will remain on schedule. No routes will be effected by inclement weather.
Brown Bag collection and Christmas tree pickup
Brown bag collection and Christmas Tree pickup are postponed Tuesday and Wednesday and will resume Thursday two days behind the normal schedule.
*If pick-up is delayed by more than two days, do not remove brown bags from the curb—the public facilities crew will service your neighborhood as soon as possible.
Transfer Station
Closed Wednesday, January 27th
Reopens Thursday, January 28thth
*City of Bridgeport officials remind all residents that masks are required at the Transfer Station.*
The Transfer Station is owned and operated by the City of Bridgeport to provide the community access to environmentally responsible disposal and recycling services. The facility is open to the public year-round; Monday-Saturday, 7AM-3PM.
