Bridgeport, CT – The Bridgeport Police Department is furthering their initiative surrounding recruitment by hosting physical agility exam demonstrations. The demonstration is being used as a tool to encourage and help prospective candidates successfully pass the physical agility course; a requirement needed to become a Bridgeport Police Officer. Recruits that are currently a part of Class 45 will be present and serving as live examples as they will be participating in their exams during the demonstration. The agility exams consist of a series of physical exercises such as sit-ups, push-ups, and 300-meter sprint, and a 1.5-mile run.

Mayor Ganim stated, “It’s very exciting to know that the Bridgeport Police Department is making as many efforts as possible to assist prospective candidates to successfully pass their physical agility exams. The support from the Police Academy staff will show recruits that the Bridgeport Police Department is truly a great place to work and the best way to serve our City.”

The agility exam will take place on Thursday, July 20^th, beginning at 4:30 PM. The exam will be held at Harding High School, located at 379 Bond Street with another exam occurring on July 27^th at the same time and place. All future candidates who are present are encouraged to observe the exam and ask questions about the testing process.

“We hope these sessions can help our candidates be successful in the process of becoming a Bridgeport Police Officer,” stated Lieutenant Angelo Collazo. “We want our upcoming recruits to be prepared to pass the exam, but we also want to know that candidates will have what it takes to be committed to protecting our City.”
