  • REGISTERING FOR FEDERAL CONTRACTING, SEARCHING FOR FEDERAL AND

STATE BIDS AND SET-ASIDE PROGRAMS

The federal government’s new System of Award Management (SAM) Program will be explained. SAM replaced Central Contractor Registration (CCR) and the Online Representations and Certifications (ORCA). Enrollment in SAM is mandatory for federal contracting.  This seminar will explore the various Federal and State set-aside programs through a discussion about the qualifications and benefits for each of these classifications.  Programs to be explored include those for veteran owned businesses; women owned businesses; HUBZone Certification; and 8-A Certification.  The seminar will demonstrate the websites for locating federal bids over $25,000 and the State’s bid portal where state and municipal bids can be found. Through specific searches in these bid portals companies will learn how to locate various bids along with solicitations restricted under socio-economic headings. The seminar will also demonstrate the databases where certified companies are found.  There will be a brief discussion about services offered by the Connecticut Procurement Technical Assistance Program (CT PTAP) and the Small Business Administration (SBA). Presenters will be Brien Robertson, Director of CT Procurement Technical Assistance Program and Lisa Powell of the SBA.
