On Saturday, April 13, Mayor Bill Finch attended opening day ceremonies for the North End and Black Rock Little Leagues.
The North End Little League opening day ceremonies were held at the Little League's complex located on the grounds of Blackham School. North End Little League Vice President Ben Carrara presented Mayor Finch with the Civic Leader Award during the opening day ceremonies. City Council President Tom McCarthy, who serves the 133rd District and City Council member Michelle Lyons, who serves the 134th District were each presented with personalized North End Little League hooded sweatshirts for the efforts in supporting the league.

Black Rock Little League also opened their season on Saturday, April 13. Ellsworth Field was filled with hundreds of players and their parents and coaches. Black Rock Little League President Jeff Burr invited Mayor Finch to throw out the first baseball pitch of the season and State Representative Auden Grogins to throw out the first softball pitch of the season. City Council member Steven Stafstrom, Jr. who serves the 130th District was also on hand for opening day ceremonies.
