Bridgeport, CT – The City of Bridgeport’s Office of Policy & Management has once again received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association, making this the tenth year that the award was given to OPM. The award was given as the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting for the current fiscal period.

In 1984, GFOA established the Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program to encourage and assist state and local governments in creating budget documents of the highest caliber. These documents must adhere to the standards established by the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and the GFOA's best budgeting practices. Specific governments would then be recognized if they are successful in achieving that goal.

The Distinguished Budget Presentation is valid for one year, with recipients being eligible to submit annual budget documents for the following year to be considered for the award again. A Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation is also presented to the individual(s) or governmental department that is primarily responsible for said department for achieving the award.

Mayor Ganim stated, “I am very proud of the Office of Policy & Management for upholding such high standards, year after year. It pleases me to know that these important documents are in trustworthy hands that continue to do great work for the City of Bridgeport.”

As the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award remains as the highest award in governmental budgeting, the Office of Policy & Management will maintain its adherence to program standards with the hopes of being awarded by GFOA for continuing years.
