11/20/2012 - 2012 Citywide Leaf Pickup Begins November 20
BRIDGEPORT, CT (November 20, 2011) – The citywide annual leaf pickup program has begun and will continue through December 31, 2012, weather permitting. Residents can either rake leaves onto the grassy area between the sidewalk and curb for pick-up, or place leaves in brown recyclable bags.
Leaf collection will continue through December 31, 2012. After that time, the City will continue to pick up leaves in brown recyclable bags, placed at the curb on the resident’s regularly scheduled recycling day. Bundled branches, no more than four feet in length, also can be placed at the curb for pick up on recycling day.
Leaf pickups are scheduled as follows:
  • Districts 134-135-133
  • District 130
  • District 132
  • District 136-138
  • District 137-139
  • District-131
The City does not accept plastic bags during leaf pickup. Plastic bags and other containers of leaves may be taken to the Asylum Street Transfer Station during normal operating hours. The Transfer Station is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 12 noon.
