BRIDGEPORT POLICE MAKE ANOTHER ARREST AND PROVIDE MONTH LONG UPDATE OF FIREARMS CONFISCATED 
30 ILLEGAL WEAPONS; 20 ARRESTS

 
BRIDGEPORT, CT – Bridgeport police confiscated another firearm and narcotics last night bringing the total of firearms recovered to more than 30, with 20 subsequent arrests in the past month.
On Monday October 5, 2006 at 2212hrs, the Bridgeport Police Strategic Enforcement Detail (SED) was patrolling the area of Lennox Avenue following an alert from ShotSpotter.   Patrolling Officers observed a motor vehicle violation when the driver failed to stop at a stop sign, units conducted a vehicle stop in the 1100th block of Howard Avenue and found that the vehicle was operating with an expired registration. When Officers requested a Driver’s License, the drive indicated that it has been expired for years.  

The Operator Michael Hudson (09-27-98) of Norwalk was attempting to hide a handgun and narcotics, which were recovered by the officer.  During a full search of Hudson, he was found to be in possession of narcotics; cocaine, crack, marijuana.  After more details were provided to officers it was also discovered that Hudson was currently on parole.  

In addition to other strategic measures Bridgeport Police are actively patrolling “hot spots,” responding to ShotSpotter notifications to mitigate violent crimes throughout the city.   

“Anyone that has a weapon and the intent to cause harm to another person will be caught.  This is not okay, and we need everyone in Bridgeport to say the same thing and mean it – this is not okay,” stated Acting Chief Garcia.  “We’ll do our part, but we need full engagement of friends, family members, the entire community - to report any illegal guns or provide an anonymous tip – and we’ll get them off the street.”

Hudson was charged with 14-215 ILL OPN MV UNDER SUSPENSION 1 COUNT; 14-301 FAILURE TO OBEY STOP SIGN 1 COUNT, 21a-278(b)*+ POSSESS W/INTENT (SBS OFF) 1 COUNT, 21a-279 ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF NARCOTIC 1 COUNT, 21a-279(a)(1) POS CON SUBST OR>1/2 OZ CANBIS 1 COUNT, 29-35(a) CARRYING PISTOL WO PERMIT 1 COUNT, 29-38 ILL POSS WEAPON IN MTR VEHICLE 1 COUNT, 53a-217 CRIM POSS FRARM/AMM/DFNS WEAPN 1 COUNT. 
Bond was set at $100,000.00
