MAYOR GANIM, NUPOWER AND A-1 DEVELOPERS CELEBRATE GREEN ELECTRICITY PROJECT

Bridgeport, CT – Mayor Ganim joined Cherry Street Lofts developers to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new fuel cell project. The development will provide 440KW in clean, green electricity to residents of Cherry Street Lofts and to the Charter Oak School.

Mayor Ganim said “To see this happening here in the West End is phenomenal. To NuPower, thank you for your leadership on clean, reliable energy in the City and thank you to our State representatives and delegation for leading the charge on this project and others.”

“The environment benefits by lowering carbon footprint, the City of Bridgeport benefits because we’re burning clean energy and our resident’s benefit because they get a discounted electric rate on the power they use,” said Gary Flocco.

Carolyn Gonzalez, Capital for Change explained, “We provide financing to developers building affordable housing, organizations and businesses providing needed community services and jobs, and projects that increase energy efficiency or reduce carbon emissions. The Cherry Street development includes an element of all of these things and that’s why C4C has been a financial supporter since the earliest stages of this development.”

Daniel Donovan, NuPower LLC said, “Mayor Ganim continues to provide leadership for revitalizing Bridgeport as an attractive and affordable place to live and work. The City’s smart planning approach that incorporates green and resilient solutions has made projects like this possible.”  NuPower has several projects planned throughout the city that will deliver 10-megawatts of electricity.
