Mayor Ganim Signs Executive Order in Support of The TRUST Act
Bridgeport, CT – Mayor Ganim joined Make the Road Connecticut Members and other city officials to sign an Executive Order supporting the Trust Act.
All City of Bridgeport employees are ordered to act in full compliance of the Trust Act and the Executive Order ensures no City of Bridgeport employee can inquire about or request information about the citizenship or immigration status of any person unless such inquiry is required by State or Federal law.
About his meeting with Make the Road members, Mayor Ganim said, “I was touched by their testimonies and we stand with you. We stand with Make the Road and all people who want to call our City home. We want to provide you the support that we can to the extent of the law.”
The Bridgeport Police Department is expected to take immediate steps to train and make all it’s members aware of the provisions of the Trust Act and to continue ongoing diversity and cultural awareness.
