Mayor Ganim Releases Certified 2018 Grand List of Bridgeport Properties
Assessment Shows Bridgeport Grand List Increased Approximately
5% in Property Values Over Last Year
Bridgeport, CT – Mayor Joe Ganim today announced that the 2018 Bridgeport property Grand List valuation is now complete and reveals a 5% increase over last year. Overall, the total assessed taxable grand list in Bridgeport stands at $6,353,391,813 – a figure approximately 5% higher than the total assessed taxable grand list property valuation for Bridgeport in 2017. Here are summary components of the Grand List:
All Taxable: 2018 Grand List
Real Property $4,772,680,627
Personal Property $1,071,557,764
Motor Vehicles $509,153,764
TOTAL GRAND LIST: $6,353,391,813
Change as % 2018 v 2017: +5.2%
This Grand List shows healthy growth due to a large increase in commercial-industrial property values, a significant portion of which can be attributed to the nearly complete natural gas power plant. Commercial and Industrial properties now total more than one third (1/3) of Bridgeport’s property values and when up more than 5% over last year.
“This Grand List increase brings a strong foundation as we prepare to go into the city’s budget process. We will continue to be prudent with tax payer dollars as we work through the challenges of balancing operational finances as well as fulfilling pension obligations and dealing with past decreases in state funding,” said Mayor Ganim.
City Council President Aidee Nieves stated, “This is positive news as we begin the budget planning process. It is incumbent that Bridgeport maintains a lean operating budget while providing the resources and services that our residents deserve.”
Attached is additional information on the Grand List including a listing of the highest 20 valued properties in Bridgeport.
