Superintendent Johnson Reports Thomas Hooker School To Be Closed Through Monday for Sprinkler Repairs
Bridgeport, CT –Superintendent Johnson today reports that Thomas Hooker School will be closed Thursday, January 24th and Friday, January 25th due to repairs needed following a sprinkler line burst. The pipe line burst happened at approximately 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 23rd. As a result of the water damage nine (9) classrooms were impacted. All students and teachers at Thomas Hooker were dismissed early.
The Department of Public Facilities immediately responded to assess the source of the pipeline burst and damages. It was found that due to the cold weather, a sprinkler line in the attic identified as the root cause of the issue. Public Facilities notified contractors to attend to the water removal and clean up throughout the school. The repair process has begun and will be assessed with updates to the superintendent on a daily basis.
At this time students will resume regular school hours at Thomas Hooker School on Monday, January 28th, 2019. Please follow the BPS website https://www.bridgeportedu.net
