Mayor Ganim Assigns Interim Public Information Officer
Bridgeport, CT – Mayor Joe Ganim today announced that Terron Jones has been assigned as a member of his staff to take on the responsibilities of Public Information Officer (PIO) for the City of Bridgeport. Jones is a longtime resident and employee of the Park City. For the past five years, Jones has served the city in the Department of Public Health and the Emergency Operations Center (EOC). In this interim role as PIO, Jones’ duties will include gathering and disseminating emergency-related public information to the community, elected officials and media for the purpose of clarity and public safety.
“Terron is the ideal person to serve the City of Bridgeport in this role,” said Mayor Ganim. “He has extensive knowledge of the city’s emergency preparedness and public safety operations. His skill set and understanding of first responder technologies as well as his dedication to public safety for our residents and our city make him the best candidate for this interim position.”
Interim PIO Terron Jones said, “I look forward to the opportunity to assist in communications between our first responders, media partners and community members. I am passionate about public safety and am humbled to serve my city in this role.”
Av Harris, who has been handling PIO responsibilities, will transition back to a full-time position as legislative liaison, Director of Legislative Affairs and Public Policy. The City of Bridgeport has legislative and administrative priorities that require focused attention and representation at the capitol. Over the coming weeks Harris will support the PIO transition and support communications as needed.
