City of Bridgeport Boards and Commissions Searching for Applicants with Ethics
BRIDGEPORT, CT – The City of Bridgeport is now actively soliciting applications of civic minded Bridgeport residents to fill two vacancies on the City of Bridgeport Ethics Commission. Applications can be found online by following this link: http://bridgeportct.gov/ethics.
The Ethics Commission is searching for individuals who are looking to fulfill their civic duty for the Bridgeport community and are interested in reviewing ethics complaints as well as performing an advisory role in regard to ethical conduct. To be considered, applicants must be a resident of Bridgeport and cannot currently hold or have held a public office or a role in an organization with the primary purpose of influencing legislation.
“We are looking to add people to our Ethics Commission that are really dedicated to serving the Bridgeport community,” Mayor Joe Ganim said. “This is a great way to get involved and play a role in city government.”
Successful applicants must be nominated by Mayor Ganim and confirmed by the City Council before becoming a part of the seven-member commission. Once a member of the Ethics Commission, applicants will attend monthly meetings to investigate ethics complaints, review nominees of volunteer boards and commissions, and prepare code of ethics training materials. There is also the possibility of separate “Special Meetings” that may arise from time to time as necessary.
Ethics Commission meetings are held on the second Wednesday of every month in Wheeler Room B at the Margaret E. Morton Government Center at 6:00 pm.
