City of Bridgeport to Host the 23rd Annual Thanksgiving Basket Brigade Saturday
Nearly 300 Bridgeport Families Will Receive Baskets Filled with a Complete Thanksgiving Dinner
Bridgeport, CT – Mayor Joe Ganim and the Bridgeport Department of Public Facilities announced today Bridgeport will be hosting the 23rd Annual Basket Brigade on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. This event will take place at the Public Facilities’ Yard located in front of the Emergency Operation Center (EOC) Building on 581 N. Washington Ave. On that day, residents are asked to volunteer their time to help assemble and deliver, complete Thanksgiving dinners to the homes of families in need in the Greater Bridgeport area. The program, inspired by the Tony Robbins Foundation Feeding Families around the world, has been taking place every year since 1993 on the weekend before Thanksgiving.
This is an event for all ages. Organizers encourage individuals to come with family, friends, co-workers and neighbors to be a part of the Thanksgiving Basket Brigade assembly line. Hall Neighborhood House, Action for Bridgeport Community Development, Inc. (ABCD), the Kennedy Center and Merton House are just some of the organizations that helped select the families in need.
