Mayor Ganim Strikes Friendly Wager with Mayor Beth Van Duyne of Irving, Texas over NCAA Women’s Basketball East Regional Final: UConn vs. Texas

Mayor Ganim to Bet a UConn Hoodie vs. Dallas Cowboys Gear put up by Irving Mayor on the Outcome of Tonight’s game; Reigning National Champion No.1 Ranked UConn Huskies Battle No. 2 Ranked University of Texas Longhorns

Bridgeport, CT – Mayor Joe Ganim today announced that with the NCAA Women’s Basketball Eastern Regional final taking place tonight at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport between the No. 1 ranked UCONN Huskies and No. 2 ranked University of Texas Longhorns, he and mayor Beth Van Duyne of Irving, TX have engaged in a friendly wager on the outcome of the game.  Specifically, UCONN Alum Mayor Ganim (class of 1981) is betting a UCONN Huskies hoodie on the Huskies in exchange for a bet of Dallas Cowboys gear that Mayor Van Duyne is betting on the Longhorns.

“This is a great year to be a Huskies fan and watch our undefeated women once again advance towards the national title right here in Bridgeport,” said Mayor Ganim.  “I told Mayor Van Duyne that she is brave to put in a wager against this Huskies team, but she is a good sport and has agreed to ship us some Dallas Cowboys gear should UCONN come away victorious tonight.  Of course, I will send her a UCONN Huskies hoodie if Texas wins.  In any case we are looking forward to an exciting competition tonight!  GO HUSKIES!”

If the UCONN Women Huskies are victorious tonight they will next proceed to Indianapolis, IN for the Final Four.
