7/22/2015 - Mayor Finch Congratulates Bridgeport Bluefish on Landing Paul O’Neill as Guest Manager

“Congratulations to Jaimie Toole and the entire Bluefish organization on bringing Paul O’Neill to Bridgeport. As an avid baseball fan and father of four kids, I respect O’Neill’s passion for the game and the intensity he played with every night at the ballpark. I encourage baseball fans from throughout the region to come out and support the home team and see an all-time great in Bridgeport, a city that’s getting better every day.”  -- Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch

Bridgeport, Conn (July 22, 2015) – Today, Mayor Bill Finch congratulated the Bridgeport Bluefish organization on landing former New York Yankees’ great Paul O’Neill as the team’s guest manager for  this Friday night’s game against the Long Island Ducks. For one night only, the five-time World Series Champion and retired Yankee outfielder will be serving as the Bluefish guest manager.

“Bridgeport continues to attract big names. Just this summer alone, we’ve had Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr. who helped celebrate the opening of new state-of-the-art ball fields in the North End, and Dwight Gooden and several other big leaguers played at Harbor Yard to raise money for our veterans,” said Mayor Finch. “Congratulations to Jamie Toole and the entire Bluefish organization on bringing Paul O’Neill to Bridgeport. As an avid baseball fan and father of four kids, I respect O’Neill’s passion for the game and the intensity he played with every night at the ballpark. I encourage baseball fans from throughout the region to come out and support the home team and see an all-time great in Bridgeport, a city that’s getting better every day.”

O’Neill, who had a highly decorated 17-season career, has not only been featured in the World Series picture five times in just ten years, but is also a five-time MLB All-star. He ended his Major League career in 2001 after the Yankees fell short against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Prior to the game, the Bluefish will host a private meet-and-greet with Paul O’Neill in the Karma Club at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard from 5:00pm – 6:00pm. Those who attend this event will have a photo opportunity with O’Neill as well as receive an autograph from the former Yankee. The cost to attend this event is $75 per person and a very limited amount of space is available. CLICK HERE to purchase tickets to the Private Meet-and-Greet.

The game is set to begin at 7:05 pm with the gates to Harbor Yard opening an hour prior.
