8/4/2015 - TODAY: Mayor Finch to Tour CT Deck Pros, a Growing Bridgeport Small Business

Bridgeport, Conn. (August 4, 2015) – Today, Mayor Finch will join small business owner John DeRosa for a walkthrough of CT Deck Pros, a Bridgeport-based small business that recently expanded its operation.

“In Bridgeport, we’re creating an environment for small businesses to grow and thrive,” said Mayor Finch. “Bridgeport is getting better every day. Small business owners, investors and job creators see the progress and are choosing to open and expand their businesses here. CT Deck Pros is another example of a Bridgeport-based small business that has grown and added new jobs.” 

CT Deck Pros designs and builds outdoor living spaces, including decks, hardscapes and pergolas. The small business recently added a showroom to its downtown-based offices and have grown the business from 3 to 15 employees.

Mayor Finch, who was awarded the Small Business Advocate Award by the U.S. Conference of Mayors last fall, also recently toured Global Scenic Services, a business the designs and builds sets for Broadway productions that also has expanded its operation in Bridgeport.

Another business in Bridgeport that has recently grown is Amodex, which manufactures an ink and stain remover that has received national recognition from the likes of Oprah Winfrey and Martha Stewart. The company is preparing to move from its Hancock Avenue building into a space more than twice as large in the former Bridgeport Police West Precinct station, at 1354 State St.

Amodex was recently featured in the Bridgeport Better Every Day ad campaign. The commercial featured business owner Beverlee Dacey, who talks about how Bridgeport is working for her 57-year old family business.
