“The Atlantic League All-Star Week is a great showcase for Bridgeport, a city that is getting better every day. The block party is a free, family-friendly event. I encourage everyone to take advantage and join the fun in Downtown Bridgeport.”” - Mayor Bill Finch

Bridgeport, Conn. (July 7, 2015) – This evening from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM, the Bridgeport Bluefish will be hosting an All-Star Block Party on Fairfield Avenue in conjunction with the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball’s All-Star Week festivities.

“The Atlantic League All-Star Week is a great showcase for Bridgeport, a city that is getting better every day,” said Mayor Bill Finch.  “The block party is a free, family-friendly event. I encourage everyone to take advantage and join the fun in Downtown Bridgeport.”

The special event will include live music, food vendors from Downtown Bridgeport restaurants, and appearances by the All-Star players and the Atlantic League team mascots. Admission to the Block Party is free, with a suggested donation of $10 to support the Bridgeport Caribe Youth Leaders.

A variety of Downtown food establishments will participate in the All-Star Block Party including Dowtown’s Fruita Juice.

“I think it’s going to help people realize that this is a nice part of town where people can come down and have a good time, “ says Chris Jarrin, owner of Fruita Juice. “I’m really excited to be a part of it.”

Another establishment that will participate in the All-Star Block Party will be Leisha’s Bakeria.

“I think the Block Party is going to bring a lot of people down to have some fun,” said Leisha Young, owner of Leisha’s Bakeria.  “I’m going to be selling some pot pies and cookies for the evening, so I’ll be able to talk about the business and the great things that are happening here in Downtown Bridgeport.”

Along with the All-Star Block Party, Atlantic League All-Star Week festivities also include a “Heroes for Heroes” Legends Game where former Red Sox players will take on Former Yankees in a seven-inning charity contest, an All-Star Luncheon hosted by Professional Wrestler Ric Flair, and many more.

This will be the third time the Bridgeport Bluefish have hosted the Atlantic League All-Star Game, with the previous games at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard being held in 1999 and 2006.

Bluefish general manager Jamie Toole continues to look for ways to make the baseball club better and more interesting.

"We have to be ready to ramp it up after the all-star game. Fortunately, we have a few tricks up our sleeve,” says Toole.
