Bridgeport, Conn. (July 8, 2015) – Mayor Bill Finch and Police Chief Joseph L. Gaudett Jr. announced the opening of a new police substation in the Trumbull Gardens apartment complex as part of an ongoing $1.2 million security upgrade to the city’s public housing complexes.

The Bridgeport Housing Authority already has invested $170,000 in equipment to enhance safety at Trumbull Gardens as part of a months-long security assessment of all properties run by Park City Communities.

The upgrades come as the Park City Communities and the city prepare to begin demolition at Marina Village and construction to provide new, affordable housing for residents.

“Safety is first and foremost in our minds. We have initiated new foot patrols in all of our public housing complexes. We are working to enhance safety not just through increased police presence but also through an integrated system of security cameras,” said Police Chief Joseph Gaudett Jr. “We have been working with Park City Communities for several months to construct a comprehensive security plan.”
