“This is great news, and gives equality to people across the country who have been denied their rights for far too long.” – Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch
Bridgeport, Conn. (June 26, 2015) – Background: Today, the U.S. Supreme Court legalized gay marriage by ruling that the U.S. Constitution bars states from denying marriage licenses to same-sex couples (Click here for more info: http://usat.ly/1GBVZDD). In response, Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch made the following statement:
“This is great news, and gives equality to people across the country who have been denied their rights for far too long. In Bridgeport and across Connecticut, we’ve been ahead of the curve in giving everyone an equal opportunity to marry under the letter of the law. Thankfully, that same equality will now be granted nationwide. Thanks to the Supreme Court for their decision, and doing right by folks across the country.”
