“Bridgeport is getting better every day, thanks in large part to the small business owners who are creating jobs for our residents, and keeping our neighborhoods healthy and vibrant. I encourage every Park City resident to shop at small businesses this Saturday and throughout the year.” - Mayor Bill Finch
Bridgeport, Conn. (November 28, 2014) – Mayor Bill Finch encourages Bridgeport residents to shop local and support small business this weekend and throughout the holiday shopping season.
Mayor Finch, who earlier this year was honored with the “Small Business Advocate” award by the U.S. Conference of Mayors, is joining mayors and elected officials across the country in support of Small Business Saturday. Held on Saturday, November 29 (the Saturday between Black Friday and Cyber Monday), Small Business Saturday is a day to celebrate and support the small, independently-owned businesses that help boost local economies across the country.
“In Bridgeport, we know that small businesses are the backbone of our economy,” said Mayor Finch. “That’s why we’re working hard to develop a business environment where small businesses can grow and thrive. And, we’re succeeding. Bridgeport is getting better every day, thanks in large part to the small business owners who are creating jobs for our residents, and keeping our neighborhoods healthy and vibrant. I encourage every Park City resident to shop at small businesses this Saturday and throughout the year.”
In addition to a plethora of small businesses that are thriving in Bridgeport, several new businesses have either opened – or announced they’re opening in the near future – in the state’s largest city. New businesses that have recently opened in Bridgeport include Boat Locker, Row America, and Sports Authority. And, new businesses that have been recently announced include Starbucks, Chipotle, and Bass Pro Shops – each of which will be located at the long awaited Steelpointe Harbor location.
