After one week of voting, Wakeman
Boys & Girls Club announced that Smilow-Burroughs Club member Billy
Narvaez is in first place in the 2014 Maytag Dependable Leader Awards
voting.
Through a national partnership, Maytag and Boys & Girls Clubs of
America selected Billy as one of five finalists nationwide to compete
for the distinction, which includes $50,000 in scholarships dollars to
help the club deepen its impact in the community.

“Billy is the definition of dependable,” said Laura Magnotta, the
clubhouse’s program director. “He is at the Smilow-Burroughs Clubhouse
every day and is a tremendous role model and inspiration for all of our
members. We are so proud to see him with this nomination for this
incredible distinction from Maytag.”
The awards recognize club professionals and volunteers who are
committed to making a difference in the lives of youth, and are
dependable and exceptional role models. This year’s America’s Vote is an
