12/19/2013 - Bridgeport Police Officers Hand Out Winter Coats to Elementary School Children

(Bridgeport, CT – Dec. 19, 2013) -- Bridgeport Police will hand out 100 winter coats to elementary school children tomorrow, Dec. 20, at 10 a.m. at Columbus Annex School.

WHAT: Bridgeport Police helping keep children warm this winter

WHERE: Columbus Annex, 612 Grand St., Bridgeport

WHEN: Dec. 20, 2013 at 10 a.m.

WHO: Bridgeport Police Community Services Division

The coats are all brand new and were paid for through individual donations at the police department and through fundraising by Community Services.

“This might be the season for giving back,” said Police Chief Joseph L. Gaudett Jr., “but Community Services does great work year round. It is always gratifying when people reach into their hearts and wallets when no one is looking, and I have seen that again and again from Bridgeport officers.”

The City’s 911 Center collected nearly 70 coats during a coat drive earlier this month. Those coats were handed out at Jettie S. Tisdale School, Dunbar School and at an after-school program in Marina Village.
