10/17/2013 - Mayor Finch, Bank of America to help Pivot Ministries breathe new life into abandoned home
Mayor Bill Finch, Bank of America Southern Connecticut Market President Bill Tommins and Pivot Ministries staff and members will celebrate the groundbreaking of 1190 Pembroke St., on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 11 a.m. The formerly vacant property will be the future home of a new Pivot Ministries men’s residential treatment center.
The unoccupied property has been donated by Bank of America to the Bridgeport-based organization, which is focused on helping men recover from drug and alcohol abuse.
Pivot Ministries will use this new home to help expand their program, which currently operates a residential recovery ministry located at 458 Jane St., an Intervention Center at 495 Jane St., and Pivot Green, Pivot Ministries’ Greenhouse at 674 Shelton St. All three of these locations were blighted properties that have been revitalized by Pivot Ministries.
