9/11/2013 - Mayor Finch Congratulates Bridgeport Hospital on the Grand Opening of Grant Street Plaza

On Wednesday afternoon, Mayor Bill Finch, Bridgeport Hospital President & CEO Bill Jennings and members of the City Council and Bridgeport Delegation cut the ribbon on the new Grant Street Plaza, a pedestrian plaza or “pocket park” between the hospital’s main entrance and the Agnes & Ernie Kaulbach Parking Pavilion.

During his remarks, Mayor Finch thanked Bridgeport Hospital not only for being one of the city's largest employers but also for being a partner in the City's vision to make Bridgeport the greenest city in New England.

"We are committed to creating open green spaces for our residents to enjoy the outdoors. With the opening of Grant Street Plaza, Bridgeport Hospital has created a beautiful pocket park and front entrance to make a great first impression on all those who walk in and out of the hospital each day," said Mayor Finch.

Mayor Finch thanked City Council President Tom McCarthy and all of the Council members for their efforts in approving the closing of this portion of Grant Street, to make the creation of  the new plaza possible.
