The Office of Planning and Economic Development (OPED), Planning Division has launched the Ash Creek Pedestrian Bridge Project. This project will lead to:

  • The construction of a multi-use bridge, improvements to Fox St. and the creation of a new multi-use trail along the Ash Creek from Fox St. to Davidson St.
  • Increase neighborhood connectivity and improve access to the Fairfield Metro Train Station.
  • Create a new recreational asset and a way to access the waterfront in the Black Rock neighborhood.

All of these benefits will generate new economic opportunity for homeowners near the project area and business owners along the Fairfield Avenue Corridor.

This construction of the project will be 100% funded by a $3.8 million LOTCIP grant from the State Department of Transportation, with the design being paid for with City capital funds. The project will advance both State and City goals of creating communities with enhanced transportation options, both to reduce congestion and to promote the attraction and retention of businesses in the knowledge economy.
