Greetings and Welcome From Council President Aidee Nieves!

It is an honor to serve as City Council President.  As the leader of the City Council, I pledge to be your voice in policy making decisions and work every day to ensure that the City Council continues its important work to create a stronger and fiscally stable City of Bridgeport.

Along with my fellow Council Members we are grateful for the opportunity to serve you and look forward to moving our city forward in bold and positive ways.  The City Council is committed to advocating for new jobs, new development, affordable housing, and ensuring that the essential quality of life services that our taxpayers expect is further enhanced.

About the Council:

The Council’s mission is to provide strong, innovative, and effective leadership for the benefit of residents across the city by working to improve the quality of life in each District by ensuring safer streets, furthering education reform, developing a vibrant economy, and implementing groundbreaking programs.

Bridgeport has often been called a “City of Neighborhoods" and its neighborhoods historically have attracted immigrants from a variety of ethnic groups and what has become the City of Bridgeport is the mixing of citizens who moved here from all over the world.  Council Members are actively involved in each of the city’s eight neighborhoods addressing diverse issues that impact on the day-to-day lives of their residents.  Similarly, Council Members are also directly involved with development of Neighborhood Revitalization Zones (NRZs). The objective of the NRZ process is to revitalize neighborhoods through the collaborative involvement of residents, businesses, and government to determine the vision and priorities of the individual neighborhoods.

We want to hear from you!

With your insight the Council discovers better ways to improve the city we all call home. You can reach us by cell phone, email, or paper mail.  For issues specific to your District, Neighborhood, or Neighborhood Revitalization Zone (NRZ) it’s best to contact the Council Member representing that District or Neighborhood.  You can find direct links to each of the City Council Districts below along with an interactive link to assist you in locating your individual Council Members and links to maps of Bridgeport's various Neighborhoods and Neighborhood Revitalization Zones.
