Mission Statement
To receive, certify, file, maintain, protect and preserve the City's Vital Records as dictated by law and to provide excellent customer service to the public in an efficient, professional and courteous manner and to be considered by others, both in and outside the working environment as an excellent department staffed by highly competent employees.
Effective 10/1/2009: You must apply for a marriage license in the city or town you plan to be married in. To find a justice of the peace in Bridgeport, click here.
You can obtain a certified copy of a vital record in three (3) ways:
The office is closed on the following legal holidays: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King's Birthday, President's Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day After Thanksgiving, Christmas Day. If the holiday falls on Saturday, it is observed on Friday before; if it falls on Sunday, it is observed on Monday after.
